Extra Rehearsal: Thursday 15th November 2018, 7.30 pm
We will be having our pre-concert rehearsal at Frederick Bremer School, Siddeley Road, E17 4EY. This will be our first opportunity to sing the piece with the South West Essex Choir and the Forest Philharmonic, so it is important that everyone attends.

Performance: Saturday 17th November 2018
Our Concert Manager Pip Kings has prepared a separate information sheet giving the detailed arrangements for the day, including timings for the afternoon rehearsal, refreshments, concert dress, seating arrangements and so on. This is going to be a much larger-scale concert than usual and it's important we all know exactly what is required so as to make it a truly uplifting occasion.

Talks and Exhibitions

The concert will be preceded by an evening of talks offering different perspectives on conflict at The Magistrates coffee bar adjacent to Walthamstow Town Hall, on Wednesday 14th November at 7.00 pm. Further details here. There will also be two exhibitions produced by the Gateways to the First World War project, which can be seen at The Magistrates from 14th to 17th November.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT, Thursday 20th December 2018, St Mary's, Walthamstow

There will be an extra rehearsal on Wednesday 19th December, at St Mary's. There will also be a rehearsal on the afternoon of the concert, which is our only chance to rehearse with the orchestra; please try to attend if you possibly can.
The concert programme will include Charpentier's Messe de Minuit as well as the usual variety of shorter pieces, including carols for choir and audience. More details will follow in due course.

For concert dates for the remainder of our 2018/2019 season, please check the 'Dates For Your Diary' section of our website.

Our 2018 Annual General Meeting will be held on the Monday following the War Requiem concert, 19th November at 7.30 pm. It will be followed by a normal rehearsal, when we will start work on the music for our Christmas concert.
One of the functions of the AGM is to elect the Committee for another year. Currently we urgently need a new Ticket Secretary; there is also a long-standing vacancy for a Social Secretary. Please put yourself forward for either one of these posts in time for the election. New faces are always welcome on the Committee, and it is possible to join the Committee and contribute to our future planning without holding a specific post. If you are interested in joining but unsure about taking on a specific role, why not join us on this basis and see how it goes? If you want to know more about what is involved, speak to an existing Committee member (look for the blue name badges).
As well as the formal business of the AGM, the evening will also provide an opportunity for you to raise any issues you would like to about the Choir and what we do.
Agenda and reports will be emailed to choir members in time for the AGM.

CAROL SINGING, Walthamstow High Street, Sundays 9th and 16th December 12pm - 1pm
Thank you to everyone who put their names down for these dates - we have enough to be able to do both. We will be singing carols as part of the "Winter Wonderland" festival. Please put the date/s in your diaries!

SINGING FOR CRISIS, Spitalfields Market, Thursday 13th December, 5pm - 6pm
We have also agreed to provide a small group of singers for a seasonal performance in Old Spitalfields Market, Horner Square, London E1. Further details will be provided nearer the date.

BOOK SALE, Monday 3rd December 2018
We will be having another Book Sale in December - just in time for Christmas! Don't forget to bring any of your unwanted books to sell - and to bring some spending money so you can buy books that you do want.

Jonathan wrote a very interesting article for the Havering Singers about his life in music and about singing in general, and we are pleased to be able to share it with you. I'm sure you will enjoy reading it, and we are very grateful to Jonathan for making it available.

The next Choir Newsletter will be produced during the first quarter of 2019. Please send notices you wish to be included to the Choir Secretary at
